Working together - Stronger together

The town of Herten belongs to the Ruhr metropolitan area, which, with its long history in energy policy and the largest number of academic institutes in Europe, provides ideal conditions for the energy industry. Study groups from different universities and applied science universities are researching hydrogen and fuel cell technology. This sector is growing through several internationally recognised research institutes (e.g. the ZBT in Duisburg).

This has meant that different partners have been able to cooperate together and form networks over the past few years.

Along with other groups, there has been cooperation with the:

  • German Hydrogen Association (DWV)
  • Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Network North Rhine Westphalia
  • Energy Agency North Rhine Westphalia
  • Centre for Fuel Cell Technology (ZBT)
  • Jülich Research Centre
  • Westphalian University of Applied Sciences
  • Ruhr H2 Network
  • HyCologne

Ruhr H2 Network membership ought to be highlighted at this point. The society has set itself the target of developing and strengthening conditions in the hydrogen and fuel cell technology field of expertise in the Ruhr metropolis.
